Mikel Merino was spotted with Arsenal’s team before their match against PSG, fuelling hopes that the £33 million summer addition could make his Champions League debut.
Mikel Merino might make his Arsenal debut against Paris Saint-Germain.
The 28-year-old Spanish midfielder joined Arsenal from Real Sociedad for £33 million in August.
However, he sustained a’small fracture’ to his shoulder during his first training session with his new team. Merino has missed six games due to this injury, although he returned to training recently.
He was also seen on Tuesday afternoon with the rest of the Arsenal players in a pre-match meeting at the Hilton hotel in London.
Connor Humm released a video on X (previously Twitter) that showed Merino signing autographs for Arsenal fans before stepping into the hotel.
Merino might potentially be included to Mikel Arteta’s matchday squad for Tuesday’s encounter against PSG, though he is unlikely to start.
On the eve of last weekend’s 4-2 victory over Leicester, Arteta stated that Arsenal’s game against Southampton on October 5 was a feasible return date for Merino.
Last Friday, Arteta stated, “Tomorrow is too soon.” Let us see what happens next week. Today, he received only partial training. He’s been working extremely hard.
