JUST IN: AC Milan Release João Félix as Viktor Gyökeres Becomes Top Transfer Target

AC Milan have begun a major squad overhaul, parting ways with João Félix and other key players to make room for a potential blockbuster move for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres.

Félix Out, Gyökeres In?

Milan confirmed that João Félix’s loan will not be extended. The Portuguese forward is heading back to Atlético Madrid after an underwhelming spell at San Siro. Riccardo Sottil is also returning to Fiorentina as his loan deal ends.

With those exits, Milan have freed up both wages and roster space. Their eyes are now firmly on Viktor Gyökeres — the 27-year-old Swedish striker who scored 43 goals in all competitions last season for Sporting.

Funding the Move

To afford Gyökeres, Milan are relying on major player sales:

Tijjani Reijnders has joined Manchester City for a fee close to €55 million.

Pierre Kalulu, Marco Pellegrino, and other squad players are being offloaded.

Theo Hernández could also be sold, possibly to Saudi Pro League clubs, bringing the total transfer income close to €140 million.

The Gyökeres Chase

Gyökeres has a €100 million release clause, but Milan hope to negotiate a fee between €65–70 million. Sporting have given him extended time off before pre-season begins, fueling speculation that a transfer is near.
