CONFIRMED: Rangers FC Attacking Midfielder Tom Lawrence Signs Three-Year Deal with Wolves Amid Strong Interest from Multiple Clubs
Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially confirmed the signing of former Rangers FC midfielder Tom Lawrence on a three-year deal, marking a significant addition to their attacking midfield options ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
The 30-year-old Welsh international joins the Molineux club as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Rangers at the end of June. Despite receiving interest from several Championship and Premier League sides—including Burnley, Wrexham, and Coventry City—Lawrence has opted for Wolves, citing their “ambition, style of play, and Premier League pedigree” as key reasons behind his decision.
Lawrence spent two injury-hit but influential seasons at Ibrox after joining Rangers from Derby County in 2022. While fitness issues limited his appearances, his creative spark and leadership on and off the pitch were widely praised. He scored several crucial goals, including in Europa League qualifiers and domestic competitions, and was a valued figure in the Rangers dressing room.
Speaking after completing his medical at Compton Park, Lawrence expressed excitement about the next chapter:
> “I’m thrilled to join Wolves. It’s a big club with top players and a strong identity. I’m here to compete, to contribute, and to give my best every time I wear the shirt.”
Wolves manager Gary O’Neil described Lawrence as a “versatile, experienced midfielder with quality on the ball and a winning mentality,” adding that his presence will “add depth and competition” in attacking areas.
The move also reflects Wolves’ intent to bolster their squad with cost-effective, high-impact signings as they continue to reshape the team post-Ruben Neves and Matheus Nunes departures in recent windows.
Lawrence is expected to link up with the squad immediately for pre-season training and could feature in Wolves’ opening summer friendlies later this month.
