Everton deal ‘target’ might have been offloaded, but it could be bad news.

Newcastle United may be forced to sell Everton-linked winger Yankuba Minteh, reports say.

The Magpies must sell players in order to meet Premier League profit and sustainability standards, as well as to fund their own recruitment goals.

Minteh only joined Newcastle from Odense for £6.5 million last summer and spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Feyenoord. He had 10 goals and five assists in 27 appearances for the Rotterdam team, which won the KNBV Cup.

According to the Telegraph, Newcastle would love to keep Minteh, but they believe it is in the best interests of both the player and the club to consider offers. A £40 million price tag has been proposed, but Football Insider believes the Magpies will accept a £25 million deal.

And that could be detrimental to Everton’s plans. It has been stated that the Toffees want to sign the Gambia international on loan for the 2024-25 season. Given Goodison Park’s precarious financial status, Sean Dyche will once again be forced to operate on a tight budget, with free agents and loans expected to play a significant role in their plans.

Everton are likely to expand their transfer options. Dwight McNeil is currently the lone senior option in the squad, following the departures of loanees Jack Harrison and Arnaut Danjuma. The Blues want Harrison back and have announced that they want to speak with Leeds United about his future.
