‘Wasn’t impressed’ – Player unhappy with Newcastle’s offer, ‘upset’ by Magpies proposition

On May 23rd, Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili stated that his future will be decided soon after Newcastle United expressed interest in him. That has not happened thus far, and the Magpies are looking into other options on the market.

Explain why the 23-year-old will not be joining Newcastle during the summer transfer window.

When he gave an interview last month, one of his agents informed him about Newcastle’s interest, which is why the stopper ‘was persuaded’ his departure was inevitable.

Newcastle’s offer of €25 million plus bonuses disappointed Valencia owner Peter Lim, who wants at least €35 million (originally €40 million) for his first-choice goalkeeper.
The Georgia international was also ‘dissatisfied’ with the Premier League club’s offer. He wants to leave Los Ches for another club where he can play frequently, and Newcastle authorities have not promised him that he will be their number one goalkeeper.

According to Plaza Deportiva, this ‘upset’ Mamardashvili, who was not interested in the project or the offer provided by Eddie Howe’s side. In summary, he ‘wasn’t convinced’ to quit the Spanish club and join Newcastle.

The Georgian must now concentrate on the Euros, hoping that his performances would lure a major European squad.
