Chelsea are allegedly now favourites to capture a major new signing this summer, and even an apparent Champions League clause will not be an impediment.

You would have seen all of the reports that came out yesterday night from a variety of sources and outlets; it all got a little crazy for a few hours, with publications publishing their various stories and perspectives on it.

Sources say Tammy Abraham, Dom Solanke, and Ivan Toney have all been considered internally at Chelsea this week. Nothing has yet been agreed upon for Jhon Duran! But there is no doubt that Chelsea are fully prepared to try to buy Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise this transfer window, and they are presently working hard to do so.

However, the issue appears confusing, and there is a lengthy release clause that does not appear to be activated and the transaction completed. There appears to be much more to it than that.

There has been speculation that the provision has stipulations that allow only Champions League clubs to trigger it, and Chelsea will not be in the UCL next season. According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are sure they will not have to pay more for Michael Olise than a Champions League club after speaking with Crystal Palace about the winger.

According to The Guardian, there are suspicions that the Michael Olise clause is larger for clubs that do not compete in the Champions League. However, a well-placed source suggested Chelsea would have a good chance of finalizing personal terms with Olise provided they could agree on a fee.

In addition to all of the above, The Telegraph reports that Chelsea are the current favourites to capture Michael Olise if he leaves Palace.
