Brazilian attacking midfielder reveals he has signed professional contract with Newcastle United.
The youthful midfielder has signed a professional deal with Newcastle United, according to a Brazilian report.
Matheos Ferreira, 15, an offensive midfielder for Newcastle United, has signed a professional contract.
Ferreira, who was born in Berwick Upon Tweed, was a gifted jiu-jitsu student before pursuing his football career. He entered the Magpies’ program at the age of 12 and has quickly progressed through the age divisions, playing for the under-18s 17 times last season.
According to Brazilian media site Globo Esporte: “This Thursday, he signed his first professional contract with Newcastle at the club’s headquarters, which will have a first version until August next year, when he will turn 17 and will then be officially validated.
“When asked about his professional contract, Ferreira told the same outlet, “I just want to keep playing and be the best version of myself.” The most important thing is that I want the best for my family, a better life, and to do the best I can without comparing myself to others. Just be myself and keep progressing.
Ferreira has represented England at the under-15 level, but he is also Brazilian. He is also in the process of obtaining an Italian passport because of his mother’s heritage. Regarding his international allegiances, Ferreira stated, “I play for whoever gives me the opportunity, but I want to practice my Portuguese more; my Portuguese is awful right now, so I want to study more. I like Brazil; I went there last year and played a lot of footvolley; the people are kind and enthusiastic, and I enjoy the spirit.
