One name stood out among the players given the opportunity to impress Enzo Maresca last night.

Ben Chilwell came on as a second-half substitute for Chelsea, who defeated Barrow 5-0 to advance to the Carabao Cup’s next round.

Maresca implied that he had a plan for Chilwell, which is why he decided to employ him weeks after it was evident that he had no chance of returning to Stamford Bridge.

The left-back received a rousing ovation from the home crowd, despite the fact that he could leave the Blues during the summer transfer window.

Even after it closed for English clubs, there were claims that they were attempting to transfer him to a league where signings could still be made.

Chelsea still wants to trade Ben Chilwell in January.

Now that he’s back in the group for the first time, the question is if he’ll be regarded as a key figure by Maresca and contend for minutes with Marc Cucurella on a regular basis.

However, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chilwell is still expected to go when the transfer window reopens in January.

“For Ben Chilwell, we know Chelsea intended to move him this summer. They couldn’t find a solution, therefore he stayed at Chelsea.

“For Chelsea and Chilwell, the goal remains to split ways in January, or in any case in 2025. This will be the quest, and it will remain unchanged even if the player returns to training.

Marc Cucurella Key for Enzo Maresca
Cucurella has shown to be an important part of Maresca’s Chelsea system, and he will most likely be among the first names on the teamsheet at this point.

Chilwell’s ability to play inside is vital to his style, which isolates him as a different profile who may not be able to play his best football for the current team.

What Enzo Maresca warned’very excellent’ Chelsea player not to do during the Barrow battering.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca would have been pleased with his team’s performance against Barrow in the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea trounced Barrow 5-0, with Christopher Nkunku scoring a hat trick. After the game, Maresca heaped admiration on Nkunku.

However, while Maresca would have been happy with what he witnessed on the night, the 44-year-old remained strong with his team.

Enzo Maresca’s precise instructions for Cesare Casadei
Cesare Casadei is a well-known player in Maresca. The Chelsea boss collaborated with the player for half a season at Leicester City.

However, according to LondonWorld, Maresca had to remind Casadei not to leave his midfield position during Tuesday night’s match.

It was Casadei’s first start of the season, and you wouldn’t expect him to receive many more, especially if Romeo Lavia stays healthy this season.

Lavia is set to return from injury and is one of Maresca’s best midfield options right now.

Cesare Casadei might have to depart Chelsea in January.
Outside of the Carabao Cup and Conference League, Casadei is unlikely to receive many opportunities.

He has yet to play a minute in the Premier League this season, despite the fact that Lavia, Enzo Fernandez, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have all missed games.

“The profile is very good,” Pochettino remarked of Casadei last year after studying him in preseason. The Italian is not a bad player.

However, he competes with midfielders who cost more than £100 million. If he wants to play regularly this season, he’ll have to contemplate a move in January.

However, if Casadei, a player with whom Maresca is well familiar, is pleased with his job, the former Inter Milan teenager might stay at Stamford Bridge for the entire season.
