Chicago Bears Reopen Arlington Heights Stadium Talks as Lakefront Plan Stalls
CHICAGO – The Chicago Bears are once again considering Arlington Heights as the site for their new stadium, reviving discussions after facing roadblocks with their proposed lakefront project near Soldier Field.
Team President and CEO Kevin Warren confirmed that the Bears are exploring multiple options, including Arlington Heights, which was initially their top choice before shifting focus to a potential downtown location. However, concerns over property taxes and infrastructure funding have slowed negotiations with city officials, prompting the team to revisit suburban alternatives.
“Arlington Heights remains an attractive option,” Warren stated. “The location offers ample space, better transportation access, and a strong community willing to support the project.”
The Bears purchased the Arlington International Racecourse property in 2023, but plans for a stadium there stalled due to disputes over tax assessments. While the team has not ruled out the lakefront project, sources suggest that Arlington Heights could be a more financially viable solution.
Fans and local officials remain divided on the potential move, with some supporting the idea of a state-of-the-art stadium in the suburbs, while others argue that keeping the team in Chicago is essential for its identity.
As discussions continue, the Bears are expected to provide further updates on their stadium plans in the coming months.
