Despite negotiations lasting until the final minutes of the summer transfer window, Chelsea did not address the striker position.

They appeared to have put all of their eggs in Victor Osimhen’s basket in the last few days of the window, but they insisted that the deal be done on their terms.

While this did not happen, it has been reported that Chelsea may return for Osimhen in January if they feel it is necessary.

One name that came up was Jonathan David, who had previously been a target of the club.

Ben Jacobs was shocked. Chelsea did not sign Jonathan David.
It also appeared that he was available at a much lower price than ever before, with a fee of £21 million being mentioned as what it could cost to sign him.

Ben Jacobs stated that he was surprised that Chelsea did not bring David in after conducting an initial investigation earlier this summer.

He told ‘The Mighty Chelsea’: “All you’re left with is David, who I’m surprised didn’t go by the way. Chelsea made an inquiry, but nothing changed. That would not have inspired many.”

Chelsea support Nicolas Jackson.
Chelsea appear to be putting a lot of faith in Nicolas Jackson to deliver the goods up front at Stamford Bridge.

He has had a good start to the season, which has resulted in him being awarded a new contract with a higher salary.

Chelsea believes Jackson is worth far more than they paid for him, and he is expected to play the majority of the minutes up top in the coming months.

With Christopher Nkunku still looking for a regular place in the side, he may be given a chance to continue his goal-scoring streak as a starter from the striker position.
