Chelsea player labeled ‘the most overrated player in the Premier League’
Mykhailo Mudryk, Chelsea’s big-money flop, has been dubbed the Premier League’s “most overrated player.”
Mudryk has had a disappointing two years in west London after joining from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee of up to £89 million.
The Ukrainian scored seven goals in 41 outings last season but is yet to score in eight appearances across all competitions in 2024-25.
Mudryk was given a rare start in the 4-2 Conference League win over Gent prior to the international break, and supplied a precise cross for Renato Veiga’s opening header.
However, the 23-year-old is still short of regular minutes and has not started a league game since being substituted at half-time against Wolves in August.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has urged the winger to ‘perform better’ to restore his position in the starting lineup, but Mudryk faces a difficult task given Noni Madueke’s strong early-season showing and deadline-day arrival Jadon Sancho.
And former Everton defender Alan Stubbs believes it will be a hard road back for the Ukrainian, who has failed to meet expectations at Stamford Bridge thus far.

‘I believe Mykhailo Mudryk is the most overrated or the largest disappointment in terms of not living up to the hype,’ he told BestBettingSites.com.
‘They took the player from beneath Arsenal’s eyes, and his abduction was portrayed as a true coup, according to a statement.
‘He hasn’t looked like the player we all anticipated he could be throughout his time at the club.
‘When I saw him play in the Champions League for Shakhtar Donetsk, I thought he was a world-class player. I was genuinely interested to see what he would bring to the Premier League, but it hasn’t happened yet. He has just flattered.
Mudryk was not the only Chelsea signing to irritate Stubbs, who also questioned Enzo Fernandes and Moises Caicedo’s central midfield play.
‘I believe serious concerns should also be asked about Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo,’ he continued.
‘They’re both good players, but have they performed at the level expected of midfielders costing more than £100 million? I don’t think they’ve had the impact you’d expect from such a substantial investment.
‘They’re both excellent players, and we’ve seen them perform before, but I haven’t seen them dominate for Chelsea. That’s what you’d expect from players with those price tags.
