DALLAS COWBOYS BREAK THE BANK: Micah Parsons Signs Historic $205 Million Deal Amid Secrecy

By J. Kendrick – NFL Insider | July 1, 2025 | Dallas, TX

In a move as seismic as a Texas thunderclap, the Dallas Cowboys have quietly finalized a record-shattering contract extension with their defensive superstar Micah Parsons, sources close to the front office confirmed late Monday night.

The deal — a staggering five-year, $205 million extension — makes Parsons the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history, topping the likes of Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt. The contract includes $145 million in guaranteed money, a $52 million signing bonus, and locks in the 25-year-old All-Pro through the 2030 season.

While team officials remained mum publicly, multiple sources revealed that Parsons and the Cowboys reached terms privately two weeks ago, with the intention of announcing the blockbuster extension at the start of training camp on July 21.

According to team insiders, Parsons put pen to paper in a private session at The Star in Frisco on June 17, flanked by his agents and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. The negotiation had been intensifying behind closed doors since late May, following Parsons’ public remarks warning that delaying the deal “would only cost Dallas more.”

Performance escalators could push the total to $225 million if Parsons leads the league in sacks twice over the life of the contract.

What It Means for the Cowboys

The massive financial commitment could complicate looming contract extensions for other Dallas stars, including CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott, both of whom enter the final year of their respective deals. However, sources inside the Cowboys war room say the front office prioritized Parsons as the centerpiece

Official Unveiling Coming

A formal announcement and jersey ceremony are expected on July 21, during a public practice session at Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, California. Banners bearing Parsons’ face are already being printed.
