Enzo Fernandez and his wife Valentina Cervantes have a son and a daughter together, but the 23-year-old Argentina and Chelsea player is preparing to undergo a split.

Enzo Fernandez, a Chelsea midfielder, and his wife Valentina Cervantes have announced their separation.

Fernandez and Cervantes have two children: a daughter born in 2020 and a son born last year. Cervantes announced the split on Instagram and encouraged followers not to cause trouble in the aftermath.

“Enzo and I have decided to take some distance from each other today,” she said in an Instagram story. “But we will always be family, and we will help one other in everything. Because there are two youngsters involved who require a lot of affection from us.
“I know Enzo as a person, a wonderful father, and a man with a kind heart. And that’s plenty for me. Please don’t try to manufacture conflicts where none exist.”

According to sources in Argentina, Fernandez told Cervantes that he “feels the need to experience the stage he skipped by choosing family early on.” As a result, the 23-year-old has allegedly voiced a desire to live alone.

Fernandez, who cost Chelsea £105 million when he arrived from Benfica in January 2023, has had a difficult season despite being elevated to the Blues’ leadership group. He captained the Blues in six of their first seven Premier League games, but Romeo Lavia has since taken his place in the starting lineup.

During Wednesday’s defeat against Newcastle, manager Enzo Maresca appeared furious with the Argentina international, turning his back after Fernandez mishandled a ball, giving Chelsea’s opponents a sight of goal. He was also outmuscled by Joelinton, who created a first-half opportunity for the Magpies, who went on to win 2-0.
“I think [making 11 changes] worked if we analyse the performance,” Chelsea head Enzo Maresca said after the defeat. “If we analyse the result, then it didn’t work.”

“But I believe we had control of the game for 23 minutes, up to their goal, and did not concede anything. Then, after the first, we lost control for ten minutes when we allowed the second goal, and then, in the final ten minutes of the first half, we generated two or three clear-cut chances that we did not score on, and in the second half, we were in control of the match.

“So I know the most important thing is the result but with the performance, we lost the game because of ten minutes and for the rest we were quite good.”
