Chelsea’s Premier League season has begun, but the team does not yet appear to be set for the next campaign.

When Enzo Maresca announced his team to play Manchester City in the season’s opening match, more questions were directed at the people who weren’t participating than at the ones who were.

After the game, analysts took issue with Raheem Sterling’s absence from the matchday roster, prompting his camp to release a statement.

Numerous players who frequently attend Cobham were unable to find a spot in the matchday squad due to the present size of Chelsea’s squad.

Bashir Humphreys was among those who would not have been expected to be anyhow, after Burnley and the Blues agreed on a fee for his departure.

Humphreys Bashir scheduled for Burnley medical

The young defender is reportedly scheduled for his medical exam today, according to Nizaar Kinsella, before he officially joins the Championship team today.

“Bashir Humphreys, the defender for Chelsea, will have a medical today at Burnley; personal terms have been agreed upon,” he stated.

Humphreys was expected to be the next player to rise through Chelsea’s academy and challenge for playing time in the starting lineup.

The young Englishman was praised for his “outstanding” performance while on loan at Swansea during the previous season.

But given the caliber of players the team presently has on its roster, it appears that there is a desire to profit while the going is good for a willing party.

Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill are Chelsea’s starting center backs.
Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill filled the two center-back positions yesterday, and both players appeared at ease with the ball at their feet and content in the system Maresca is trying to implement.

Maresca was not as happy, though, with the Chelsea supporters at Stamford Bridge, who were starting to lose patience with the new manager’s style of play after the first game.

Under the Italian, the Blues will undoubtedly need to exercise patience if they are to thrive and play their best.
