Cole Palmer made history alongside Frank Lampard as Chelsea defeated Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s £54 million move to bring Cole Palmer to Stamford Bridge could be remembered as one of their best ever, as he continues to exceed expectations.

The Englishman scored four goals in the first half as the Blues put on a ruthless display.

Palmer’s ‘insane’ performance astounded Jason Cundy, and Alan Shearer was quick to praise the Chelsea star for his ‘unbelievable’ performance.

In scoring his four goals, he cemented his place in Chelsea history, joining Blues legend Frank Lampard for one record.

Palmer has helped Chelsea score more goals than any other Premier League player since his debut in 2023. Even more than Erling Haaland.

Following his performance in Brighton, he went on to record another record.

Cole Palmer and Frank Lampard are the only Chelsea players to have scored four goals in two different Premier League games (Palmer – Everton, Brighton; Lampard – Derby, Aston Villa).

To be on par with Lampard in any department is a feat in itself.

Frank Lampard’s time with Chelsea
Frank Lampard made 648 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 211 goals and providing 148 assists.

During his time at Chelsea, he won 11 trophies, including three Premier League titles and one Champions League.

The Englishman also accomplished a great deal on his own.

He was the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year in 2005, Premier League Player of the Year in 2005, named to the FIFPro World Team of the Year in 2005, UEFA’s Most Valuable Midfielder in 2008, Chelsea’s top scorer in 2004/05 (19 goals), 2005/06 (20 goals), 2007/08 (20 goals), and 2011/12 (16 goals), and Chelsea Player of the Year in 2004 and 2009.

If Palmer is even half the player Lampard was, Chelsea may have another legend on their roster.
