Jurrien Timber is unlikely to play for Arsenal against Liverpool this weekend, as he is not in training or in the Netherlands squad for November.

In a setback to Arsenal ahead of Sunday’s game against Liverpool, Sky Sports News say that Bukayo Saka, Riccardo Calafiori, and Jurrien Timber were all absent from practice on Friday.

Timber may yet be able to recover in time, but the Dutch provisional team for the Nations League internationals in November is another negative sign.

Even though the first of their November internationals is only 22 days away, the Netherlands has already removed Timber from their squad list.

Hopefully, this is simply because Timber has struggled to find consistent minutes thus far, and Ronald Koeman would prefer to call up guys who have a run of games behind them. Or perhaps he simply wants to give the defender a break.

However, it is possible that Koeman is aware that Timber will be unable to perform fully.

With Calafiori out, Takehiro Tomiyasu injured, and Kieran Tierney still out, Arsenal’s left-back options may be further constrained by Timber’s absence.

The Gunners still have a few of options, with Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko fit. However, with William Saliba suspended, Kiwior could be needed at centre-back, while Zinchenko has not played since his own injury.

Due to these circumstances, Myles Lewis-Skelly was utilized as a left-back on Tuesday, and he may be called upon again this weekend.
