JUST IN: Denver Broncos Sign TE Evan Engram to $39.5 Million Deal After Releasing FB Michael Burton and OL Quinn Bailey
The Denver Broncos have made a significant move in free agency, signing veteran tight end Evan Engram to a three-year, $39.5 million contract. This comes after the team released fullback Michael Burton and offensive lineman Quinn Bailey to create cap space.
Engram, formerly with the Jacksonville Jaguars, brings an explosive pass-catching presence to Denver’s offense. The 29-year-old is coming off a strong season, recording 114 catches for 963 yards and four touchdowns in 2023. Known for his speed and route-running ability, Engram is expected to be a key target for the Broncos’ quarterback, providing much-needed stability at the tight end position.
The departures of Burton and Bailey indicate a shift in Denver’s offensive approach. Burton, a veteran fullback, was primarily used in blocking and special teams, while Bailey provided depth on the offensive line. Their exits suggest the Broncos are prioritizing skill-position players and refining their offensive strategy under head coach Sean Payton.
With Engram now in the mix, Denver aims to strengthen its passing game as it continues to build a competitive roster for the upcoming season.
