JUST IN: Running back Nick Chubb named the Browns’ 2024 Ed Block Courage Award winner.
BEREA, Ohio – Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has been chosen by his teammates as the recipient of the team’s 2024 Ed Block Courage Award. This annual honor is given to one player from each NFL team who best embodies the traits of Ed Block, the former Baltimore Colts athletic trainer, including courage, compassion, commitment, and community involvement. Chubb previously earned this award in 2020.
Expressing his gratitude, Chubb acknowledged the Browns’ training staff, strength and conditioning coach Dale Jones, Dr. Voos at University Hospitals, and his teammates for their support during his recovery process. “It’s always a challenge to come back after an injury, and I’m thankful for everyone who helped me return to doing what I’ve loved since childhood,” Chubb said.
Chubb suffered a season-ending knee injury during Week 2 of the 2023 season against the Steelers. Following two successful surgeries at University Hospitals and over a year of rehabilitation, he returned in Week 7 against the Bengals, rushing for 22 yards and scoring a touchdown.
Since joining the Browns as a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Chubb has rushed for 6,802 yards and 51 touchdowns, earning four consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2019 to 2022. Despite missing most of the 2023 season, he ranks second in the league in rushing yards since 2018 and is among the Browns’ all-time leaders in rushing yards, touchdowns, and average.
