Manchester City
Man City will make attacker the highest-paid British player ever, as Guardiola obtains the first of two massive agreements.
Manchester City want to make Phil Foden the highest-paid British footballer ever, and why a deal is simple to complete has been revealed, while the Premier League winners have already signed a separate arrangement with a player Pep Guardiola admires.
Foden was already a top-tier star in his own right, but he elevated his game to new heights last season. The 24-year-old scored 19 goals and assisted eight times in the Premier League alone. Foden was named Premier League Player of the Season, giving his lethal performances the recognition they deserved.
Foden helped Manchester City win their sixth title in seven years. While Kevin De Bruyne has been their go-to attacker in recent years, a changing of the guard may have occurred.
Foden has a contract with the Etihad until 2027, and no substantial transfer interest has materialized, with the exception of preliminary ties to Real Madrid.
Nonetheless, a recent report from the Sun claims that Manchester City is attempting to sign Foden to a record-breaking contract.
It is said that City will begin talks with Foden about a new contract between the end of Euro 2024 and the start of the new Premier League season.
Foden is now earning over £225,000 per week, but he is set to receive a pay increase that would push his weekly earnings up to £400,000.
