Matt O’Riley has resumed training at Lennoxtown following heavy Celtic transfer speculation.

Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley has returned to Celtic training after taking some additional time off to enjoy his summer break.

O’Riley was not called up to Denmark’s Euro 2024 roster, although he did go through post-season training preparations in case someone dropped out of the national team squad due to injury.

As a result, he was not among the first set of players to return to Lennoxtown last Thursday. According to his Instagram posts, the athlete has recently enjoyed visits to the Maldives and India.

However, he is now back at the training facility. He was pictured working yesterday as the Bhoys prepare for their Friday night friendly against Ayr United at Somerset Park.

O’Riley has been the subject of significant transfer speculation in the off-season, so it’s nice to see him back participating and hungry to prepare for the upcoming season.

Talk about O’Riley bids and attention from English Premier League.
Earlier this week, it was rumored that Southampton was one of the teams attempting to sign O’Riley this summer, albeit at a cheaper price than Celtic desired.

The Saints are reportedly looking for an initial cost of £20 million, which is less than the Bhoys’ estimate of around £30 million.

According to reports, O’Riley set a high standard for exits. Southampton, it appears, will not provide him the salary he is looking for in his next move.

If the midfielder does go this summer, which is not guaranteed, it will only be for the right price and to the right club. He is not going to jump at the first team that expresses interest.

In the meanwhile, we can anticipate him to play in pre-season games and on the next USA trip, albeit an appearance against Ayr may be too soon for him.
