More Breaking NEWS; Xabi Alonso and Ralf Rangnick’s rejections have Bayern Munich looking to retain their coach, and now Thomas Tuchel has admitted to having conversations about a potential stay.
After just two seasons in charge, Bayern confirmed earlier this year that they had decided to amicably split company with Tuchel. But after hearing no from people like Ralf Rangnick and Xabi Alonso, the head of Bayer Leverkusen, the Bavarians tried to extend Tuchel’s contract. In the end, the former Chelsea manager declined the offer and said that he would be departing the team at the conclusion of the current campaign.
“My decision to not renew?,” Tuchel stated in an interview with Sky Germany. Max Eberl [from] Wednesday knew it. We had another lengthy conversation about everything. However, no deal was made. What prevented you from renewing? It remains hidden behind closed doors.”
According to reports, Tuchel has demanded that Der Roten strengthen in two crucial areas as renewal discussions get begun. Uli Hoeness of the Bayern board criticized Tuchel for his recruitment practices, arguing that Tuchel’s need for new players stemmed from his inability to nurture the team’s current potential.
Tuchel also brought up Hoeness’s remarks in the interview, saying he didn’t anticipate an apology from him. “No, he is not required to. But I’m not resentful,” he declared.
The Bavarians’ board can now concentrate their efforts on finding a new coach, since the team finished the season with a 4-2 loss to Hoffenheim. After Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi, who was on Bayern’s shortlist, announced his resignation from the Seagulls this summer, they may have had an opportunity.
