While two Newcastle United players await their fate, James Maddison’s Euro 2024 dreams appear to have come to an end.

Following Monday’s game at St James’ Park, Gareth Southgate plans to remove seven players from his England team, reducing it to 26 for the Euros.

Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier are hoping to be included and will take their chances. The former is coming off the best season of his career, while the latter is expected to start at left back for the Three Lions after captaining them on Monday.
However, while the Newcastle United duo intend to travel to Germany, they will not be joined by James Maddison.

The Tottenham Hotspur playmaker was part of England’s 33-man squad and performed admirably off the bench against Bosnia & Herzegovina. However, it will not be enough for him to reach the final 26-man roster.

The Telegraph reports that Maddison has been advised that he will not be part of England’s final Euro 2024 team.

They say he has departed the training camp and will not play against Iceland on Friday, despite initially being scheduled to start at Wembley.
