Other Teams
Newcastle want to sign a Brazilian international who has nicknamed Bruno Guimaraes his ‘hero’.
Newcastle United will have Copa America representation this summer.
With Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier poised to flourish for England at Euro 2024, most of the attention in this country will inevitably rest on the two Newcastle stars this summer.
However, they are not the only two who will be performing on the biggest stages.
Indeed, Fabian Schar will represent Switzerland despite a late-season injury at club level, and Martin Dubravka is in the Slovenia team ahead of his likely move from St James’ Park this summer.
Then there is the Copa America.
Miguel Almiron will play for Paraguay, and Guimaraes will represent Brazil.
Joelinton’s injury last season may have cost him a position in the Selecao squad, but Guimaraes is still a part of their plans.
Indeed, the midfielder featured in Brazil’s 3-2 victory over Mexico in a pre-tournament friendly on Saturday night, alongside a player that Newcastle are apparently interested in.
Andreas Pereira of Fulham has recently been linked with a move to St James, along with Aston Villa and Tottenham.
Andreas Pereira refers to Bruno Guimaraes as his ‘hero’ amid Newcastle links.
Following the exciting game, Guimaraes turned to Instagram to say, “We’re getting ready!!! Let’s go to Brazil.
Pereria responded: “Idolo [which obviously means idol in English].”
Andreas Pereira may not be Newcastle’s focus this summer.
Pereira performed admirably for Fulham last season, recording seven Premier League assists in 34 starts from an attacking midfield position.
Newcastle may have other priorities, such as strengthening in goal, right wing, center-back, and bolstering the attack with a back-up striker. While Pereira has played on the wing, he has only made ten appearances in that position (Transfermarkt).
