Arsenal face Newcastle away this weekend in another difficult match.

Arsenal are allegedly angry with the Premier League for appointing Jarred Gillett as the VAR referee for their match against Newcastle on Saturday.

Gillett’s most recent involvement in a Gunners game saw him advise Rob Jones to examine the pitchside VAR monitor for William Saliba’s probable dismissal at Bournemouth, before the first verdict of a yellow card was reversed, contributing to Arsenal’s only defeat this season.

Gillett has already played in three of Arsenal’s nine league games this season, including the wins over Wolves and Tottenham.

During Arsenal’s season opener against Wolves, which ended in a 2-0 victory, Yerson Mosquera looked to grasp Kai Havertz around the neck, but Gillett did not intervene.

According to Mirror Football, Arsenal are pleased that Gillett has been assigned to another of their games after several of his previous rulings did not go their way.

Last season, Arteta was particularly furious at Gillett following Arsenal’s defeat against Aston Villa. Gillett denied Havertz’s late equaliser for handball, which was supported by VAR, and did not award a penalty for Douglas Luiz’s foul on Gabriel Jesus.

Arteta, who received a touchline ban during the game at Villa Park, remained silent afterward, simply stating that he had “a big opinion” on the officiating decisions, which were “clear and obvious to me”.

During Arsenal’s most recent trip to Newcastle, Arteta was furious, calling some of the choices a “disgrace.”

Anthony Gordon’s goal cleared three VAR tests, resulting in a 1-0 defeat for Arsenal.

Stuart Attwell, the referee for that game, will not be involved in the upcoming match at St James’ Park. Following last season’s game, Arteta went on an angry rant in various post-match press interviews and was later charged by the FA, before being cleared.

who were recently held to a stalemate by Liverpool, find themselves five points behind Manchester City, and Arteta has emphasised the necessity of not allowing that advantage to grow.

This season, the team’s discipline has been called into question, as they have got three red cards, resulting in deducted points each time. Declan Rice, Leandro Trossard, and Saliba have all seen red since the beginning of the semester.
