Raphael Varane is being linked to a reunion with his old team, and the boss says he would be “the happiest coach” if he signed the Manchester Utd star.
Raphael Varane, a defender who announced his departure from Manchester United in the summer, has been connected to an incredible comeback to France. As a free agent, the 2018 World Cup champion may choose to return to his childhood club, where he started his professional career before becoming well-known worldwide with Real Madrid, according to Foot Mercato. In the 2010–2011 season, Varane made his professional debut with the Sang et Or. He went on to play 24 games before being acquired by the Spanish powerhouses for a transfer fee of €10 million (£8.6m/$11m).
While it would be tempting to sign Varane without paying a transfer fee, Lens may find it difficult to match his salary. However, head coach Franck Haise praised the defender’s abilities as a leader and player and stated that he would be interested in having him return to the team.
