Chelsea have triggered the release clause of Barcelona’s youngster Marc Guiu.
Chelsea is aiming to improve their attacking options this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. However, no final decision has been made.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are pondering which striker to sign next this summer after learning that they are close to sealing a deal for Barcelona teenager Marc Guiu.

Chelsea made a managerial change at the end of last season, firing Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino after only a year in charge. Instead, they have chosen to proceed with former Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca, who led the Foxes to a Championship and promotion-winning season last season.

Now, the incoming manager must address critical team shortcomings this summer in order to enhance the club’s standing next season. Chelsea finished sixth in the Premier League, although they only qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League after Manchester United won the FA Cup.

Following speculations that Chelsea are close to signing Barcelona teenager Marc Guiu after activating his release clause, Fabrizio Romano thinks the London club is now evaluating their options and considering a number of targets.

This comes amid reports that they are also interested in signing 21-year-old forward Maximilian Beier from Hoffenheim this summer, who might be available for £25 million. The teenager is also reportedly a target for league rivals Aston Villa, but nothing has been finalized as of yet.

Romano informed GIVEMESPORT:

“The process of triggering the release clause for the striker they’re signing, Marc Guiu from Barcelona, has already begun, therefore the deal will be worth €6 million. They truly believe they are getting a good deal by signing him.

“For the other striker, it is not yet immediate or close. Chelsea is reviewing their options and considering numerous candidates. At the present, as with Maximilian Beier, it is not an urgent possibility.”

Lautaro Martinez’s agent has responded to allegations linking his client with a move away from Inter Milan. According to reports, Chelsea was investigating a transfer as early as last summer, but the transaction did not materialise.

Now, in an interview with FCInter1908, the player’s agent, Alejandro Camano, has ruled out leaving Inter. He told the source that they have agreed to prolong their contract with the Serie A club, and Martinez values his position as captain.

The 26-year-old Argentina international joined Inter from Racing Club for the 2018/19 season. Martinez has made almost 280 appearances in all competitions over his six years in Italy, scoring 129 goals and assisting 43 more.
