Timing of Arsenal contract negotiations revealed by Mikel Arteta
Arteta has begun the last 12 months of his contract with Arsenal. Little headway has been made in the summertime negotiations; the manager of the Gunners anticipates holding more talks following the transfer window.
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has acknowledged that he anticipates the club focusing on his contract, which is about to expire, once the transfer window shuts next week.
As Arteta approaches the last year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium, supporters are worried that they may lose their manager. However, the manager has consistently emphasized in public his dedication to the team and his expectation that talks for an extension will be straightforward.
Mikel Merino is on the verge of joining Arsenal as the third senior signing of the summer, and Arteta stated that the Gunners will soon be able to concentrate on resolving his future later this year.
The transfer window has been the main emphasis,” he said. “There were a lot of things for us to talk about and do.
“We are aware of it and will address it when the time is appropriate. Primarily, I am thankful for my current position and the individuals I collaborate with on a daily basis, as it is quite challenging to discover balance, confidence, conviction, and congruence with the goal.
I bring it up every time because I think we still have an incredible amount of time ahead of us. It’s really thrilling, and I’m thrilled about it.”
Upon being asked if he could follow in the footsteps of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp by staying with a single team for nine years, Arteta responded, “I see today and tomorrow.” As managers, we have to deal with that reality and its immediacy.
“You have to plan for two or three years in advance because our performance as a team will determine the club’s future – that much is certain. That’s how things really are. Do your best and try to enjoy it in the interim.”
There have been reports of previous interest in Arteta from both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. While Luis Enrique’s contract with the French champions expires at the end of the current campaign, the former signed Hansi Flick to a two-year contract this summer.
