A loss for Man Utd against Thomas Tuchel might keep Erik ten Hag in his position.

Because Bayern Munich has been unable to identify a replacement for Thomas Tuchel, Erik ten Hag may still be in his position at Manchester United come summertime. The 50-year-old’s departure from the Allianz Arena at the end of the 2023–24 season was announced by the club in February, but they have since lost to Bayer Leverkusen and have not been able to win the Bundesliga championship.

]When his team lost their Champions League semi-final match against Real Madrid 4-3 on aggregate last week, it appeared that Tuchel’s hopes of persuading the Bayern executives were vanished. The club has identified four possible candidates, but players and supporters are still in the dark as to who will succeed them in 2024–2025. The Bavarians first made an attempt to get Leverkusen manager Alonso, but the Spaniard turned down offers from Bayern and Liverpool in order to stay with his present team. Oliver Glasner, the Crystal Palace manager, Ralf Rangnick, and Tuchel’s predecessor Julian Nagelsmann have apparently also been the target of unsuccessful attempts.

Herbert Hainer, the president of Bayern, has reportedly had second thoughts as a result of the rejections, according to the German magazine BILD. According to reports, the team is now thinking about giving Tuchel, who won the Bundesliga in his debut season after taking over for Nagelsmann in the middle of the season, a new opportunity.

Alonso, the manager of Leverkusen, was first courted by the Bavarians, but he declined offers from Bayern and Liverpool in order to remain with his current squad. It appears that fruitless attempts have also been made at Julian Nagelsmann, Tuchel’s predecessor, and Ralf Rangnick, the manager of Crystal Palace, as well as Oliver Glasner.

The German publication BILD claims that Bayern President Herbert Hainer has changed his mind in response to the rejections. The team is reportedly considering offering Tuchel, who took over for Nagelsmann in the midst of the season and won the Bundesliga in his first, a fresh start.
