Breaking News: A former Spurs player says Ange Postecoglou should anticipate a lot of anger from his own fans if Tottenham does Arsenal a huge favor by defeating Manchester City.

If Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham team manages to take the lead against Manchester City, the supporters will not be kind to him.

Before the Premier League match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where a City win would maintain the championship fate in their own hands, there is much debate. If it’s anything less, Arsenal will have the upper hand going into Sunday’s final round of matches.

The notion that Spurs, who need to win to retain their remote chances of securing Champions League football, would be doing their bitterest rivals a tremendous benefit is unfathomable to a large number of supporters who have committed to support City for the evening. Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara is one of them; he discussed the situation with Ally McCoist on talkSPORT on Tuesday.

“You’re telling me the Spurs fans are going to turn on Ange if they win tonight?” said McCoist. “Big Ange is getting it if we go 1-0 up tonight, he’s getting it,” O’Hara stated. “Ange, sort yourself out buddy, this is Tottenham vs. Arsenal, not Celtic vs. Rangers.

“For the next three months, I’m not going to be on [talkSPORT show] the Sports Bar and dealing with Arsenal supporters who interrupt every five minutes to brag about how they won the league and how we gave them the championship.”

Even if Spurs defeat Pep Guardiola’s team, they would still trail fourth-place Aston Villa by two points and would need a major favor from Crystal Palace, the Villans’ opponents on the last day of the season. “Because you know what will happen,

we’ll win tonight and then Aston Villa, they’ll go and beat Crystal Palace and we’ll finish fifth anyway,” O’Hara said, acknowledging that she will not be playing in the Champions League. That’s all there is to Spurs. The Champions League is over; I can take another season. Despite all the humor, I don’t believe the team is prepared for the Champions League.
