Xavi Simons is a player that Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly considering cashing in on this summer, and rumors suggest that Arsenal and Barcelona are prepared to compete for his signature.

The 21-year-old, who joined PSG in 2019 after graduating from Barca’s academy, was actually sold to PSV by the French powerhouse in the summer of 2022.

After an incredible season in the Eredivisie, he was bought back by PSG last summer, but RB Leipzig was loaned to him right away. That contract had a buy-back clause.

With seven goals and eleven assists in 31 Bundesliga games, Simons has once again had a fantastic campaign. That is one goal every 136 minutes.

In addition, he participated in eight Champions League games, recording two goals and two assists. He will probably be a key member of the Dutch team at the Euros this summer.

Simons was anticipated to return to the Parc des Princes to help fill the vacuum left by Kylian Mbappe’s free departure from PSG, but that may not always be the case.       Barca is constrained by La Liga’s stringent financial fair play regulations, but they have discussed a contract and believe their former youth player would be a perfect fit.

The requirement to sell another player before making a move for the young talent gives the edge to Arsenal and Bayern, who have been interested in PSG for a long time and can afford their demands.

While Luis Enrique is pleased to have Simons return to the starting lineup, PSG’s management will profit handsomely if they receive a bid in the region of €60 million (£51.6 million).
