After three years with the Premier League team, central defender Raphael Varane will depart Manchester United at the end of the current campaign.

Varane, 31, left Real Madrid after ten years in 2021 to join United. He helped the English team win the League Cup in 2023 and has 67 league outings to his belt.

In a social media video, Varane stated, “It’s been an amazing few years to play for this special club and wearing that shirt.”

Varane hasn’t played since April due to a muscular ailment, but he intends to return before Manchester City and United play in the FA Cup final on May 25 to terminate United’s season.

The team released a statement saying, “Everyone at United thanks Rapha for his service and wishes him well for the future.”

Newcastle United is the opponent in United’s final home game of the season on Wednesday, which puts them in eighth place.

“I’ll see you at Old Trafford to say goodbye for the last game at home this season and it’s going to be an emotional day for me for sure,” said Varane.

Varane’s three seasons at United were limited to 93 appearances due to injuries.

Varane was a losing finalist in 2022 when Les Blues were defeated 4-2 in a penalty shootout by Argentina in Qatar, despite winning the World Cup with France in 2018.
