Beginning with the upcoming season, Arsenal’s women’s team will call the Emirates Stadium home.      Arsenal Women have confirmed that 11 games would be held in the storied Emirates Stadium in the 2019 season, marking their intention to make the stadium their permanent home.

If the team makes it to the group stages, eight of the games will take place in the Women’s Super League and three in the Champions League. The Emirates field will host any home games played during the Champions League knockout stages.

The rest of the matches, including the domestic cup matchups, will still take place at Borehamwood’s Meadow Park. Six WSL games at Emirates Stadium this season have averaged a very respectable attendance of over 52,000, with two sell-outs and three WSL attendance records.

The chief executive of Arsenal, Vinai Venkatesham, underlined his excitement, saying: “We have witnessed an incredible increase in the number of fans attending games at Emirates Stadium, including two sell-outs so far this season.

Our next goal is to establish Emirates Stadium as Arsenal Women’s primary home. We are excited to provide more fans with the opportunity to witness our women’s team compete.”

“We have a special connection with our supporters, who have shown up in huge numbers and pushed us forward every step of the way,” said Arsenal Women’s head coach Jonas Eidevall, expressing his delight over the move.

“Next season, Emirates Stadium becomes our main home and we are all excited to play in front of bigger crowds every week.”
