Crystal Palace are reportedly willing to sell Odsonne Edouard, but Celtic may have to make a huge offer to bring him back to the club this summer.

Brendan Rodgers is preparing the Scottish Premiership champions for the Champions League group stage next season as he seeks to make his mark in Europe, and social media speculation has exploded in recent hours that the Frenchman may be reuniting with his old boss by returning to Celtic Park from the English Premier League. Last season, the 26-year-old was on the margins of the Palace club, being used rarely after Oliver Glasner took over as manager and scoring only eight goals.

The manager looks to have made his decision on Edouard, and the club will apparently want to move him on from Selhurst Park this summer, although any possible bidder will have to pay a high fee.

According to the South London Press, the Eagles value the striker “at around £20 million,” after paying £14 million to sign him from Celtic Park in 2021. Edouard is leaving in the summer at the end of next season, and Palace intends to use the sale to “supplement” Glasner’s summer rebuild.

It would be surprising if Celtic paid that much in this transfer window, but former Parkhead player Andy Walker predicts a “signature statement” from the club this summer. He believes Rodgers will call for the club to use its “financial muscle” to send a message to Rangers ahead of next season.

He told Go Radio: “Going back to what Brendan Rodgers said about halfway through the season before the narrative shifted, he needed a bit of quality, then he was very happy to work with what he had, but I think he’s demonstrated he knows what he’s doing. He’s an exceptional coach who knows how to be successful, particularly in Scotland, and win championships.
