will allegedly maintain Noni Madueke even if they sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. The Blues are one of at least five teams interested in signing the highly regarded Frenchman this summer.

Chelsea’s considerable interest in Olise casts doubt on Madueke’s future. Both players have a similar profile: left-footed forwards who thrive when coming in from the right wing.

They came close to signing Olise last summer. They thought they had activated the 22-year-old’s tricky release clause at Palace, but the player eventually signed a better contract with the south Londoners.

Madueke, who thrived under Mauricio Pochettino in the second half of last season, may see his playing time reduced if Olise arrives at Stamford Bridge. However, The Athletic reports that Chelsea wishes to keep the former England under-21 international.

The Blues aspire to have at least two top players in each position on their roster. They allegedly believe that maintaining Madueke will help them achieve that policy. Cole Palmer, who spent much of last season on the right wing, is expected to be deployed more frequently as a No. 10 by new head coach Enzo Maresca.
Madueke had eight goals and three assists in all competitions last season. The 22-year-old, who cost £30 million to sign from PSV in January 2023, had only recently begun to integrate into Pochettino’s preferred team before the Argentine left. Palace, where he spent three years of his academy career, is reportedly interested in a move.

Meanwhile, Olise’s status after the summer is uncertain. The former Reading player, whose representatives Chelsea are said to have reached personal terms with, is said to be content at Palace but would consider a move if an intriguing opportunity surfaced

Manchester United, Newcastle, and Bayern Munich have all been connected with the winger, who scored 10 goals and assisted six more despite making only 14 Premier League appearances last season. A series of hamstring injuries prevented him from appearing more frequently.

One stumbling block for clubs looking to sign Olise this summer is his participation in the Olympics. He and Palace teammate Jean-Philippe Mateta, who is also garnering transfer attention, are members of Thierry Henry’s France squad for the competition, which runs from July 24 to August 10.

If Olise is to depart Selhurst Park, he and Palace would prefer that the trade be completed before he arrives, and especially before the Premier League season begins. Clubs find it difficult to exercise his release clause, which is estimated to be worth over £60 million.
