Chelsea wants upfront cash for the £50 million player after beginning conversations about his prospective transfer.

Hiago Silva has already left Chelsea, and Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah could soon follow.

Gallagher has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, while Chalobah is believed to be garnering strong interest from Fulham.

Gallagher is in his final year of contract, and the Blues have recently recruited another centre-back, Tosin Adarabioyo, so the departure of the two Chelsea academy products is a distinct possibility.

Chelsea is not interested in the potential cash-plus-player trade.
According to the Daily Mirror (page 72, 09/06/2024), Chelsea remain interested in Villa attacker Jhon Duran.

With the Villans interested in Gallagher, they could always try to include the Colombian in a prospective trade for the midfielder.

However, that is unlikely to be effective, as the same source claims Chelsea wants straight cash for Gallagher after talks with Villa about a deal.

It means Villa will have to get their wallets out, as the Daily Mail reports that Chelsea wants at least £50 million for the Englishman.

Should Chelsea consider making a cash-plus-player bid for Conor Gallagher?

It should not be ruled out completely. Chelsea would struggle to acquire such a large fee for Gallagher, who is in the final year of his contract.

If the club refuses to budge on their £50 million asking price, they risk losing him for nothing next year.

As a result, if a cash-plus-player deal comes in, it may be worth considering, particularly if it contains someone Chelsea is already interested in, such as Duran.

The Blues should maintain Gallagher after his performance this season. He was their second-highest ranked player on WhoScored, trailing only Cole Palmer following his outstanding season. But, here we are. At this point, it would be surprising if the England international stayed with Chelsea beyond 2025.
