Everton will approve sale of defender in smart plan to thwart Manchester United.

Everton will approve sale of defender in smart plan to thwart Manchester United.
Everton have started the window quickly, signing two new players, and Iliman Ndiaye will be confirmed as a new Toffees player shortly.

Sean Dyche’s team has brought in Tim Iroegbunam and re-signed Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds United, while they have sold Lewis Dobbin to Aston Villa for approximately £10 million.

According to reports, Everton is on the verge of complying with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability criteria (PSR) once more.

One more sale before submitting their books for 2023/24 would ensure things, and according to David Ornstein, Atalanta has just bid €10 million (£8.5 million) for defender Ben Godfrey.

The centre-back, who can also play right-back, has been an important player for Everton at times but made only 13 Premier League starts in 2023/24.

Godfrey has only 12 months left on his contract at Goodison Park.

Given that the Toffees are desperate to keep crucial players like Manchester United target Jarrad Branthwaite, Dyche is reportedly willing to sell him for the appropriate price.

Everton keen to maintain important players.
According to Ornstein’s report, Everton has set a €15 million (£12.7 million) price tag for Godfrey, which has already been ‘offered by another club.’

Lyon, the French club, is thought to have matched the Toffees’ value, and as a result, they are leading the race to sign the defender.

Dyche is determined to maintain crucial players like Branthwaite, Arsenal target Amadou Onana, and exit-linked striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, although Godfrey will have to be replaced if he leaves.

Everton have been connected with Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof, so he could be a possibility for them. But we recognize that he is not a priority.

The Toffees are also looking to acquire a new winger, and sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that they have spoken with Newcastle star Yankuba Minteh.

Everton were close to signing Minteh before Newcastle’s bid for Calvert-Lewin fell through. Lyon has now bid £40 million for the 19-year-old.

However, while the French club has met the Magpies’ assessment of Minteh, rumors say that he has’rejected’ the move since he has already ‘signed terms’ with Everton.

It will be intriguing to see if the Merseyside club make a bid for him if they sell Godfrey.

Their objective is to avoid a violation of PSR, and £40 million for Minteh may still be out of reach for the time being, with Newcastle also looking to sell before Sunday.
