Four minutes after the break, Anthony Gordon gave Newcastle their equalizer back, but Amad Diallo’s rocket put the Red Devils ahead again, and three minutes after Rasmus Hojlund entered the game, he added a third.

In stoppage time, Lewis Hall gave Newcastle a response, setting up a nerve-wracking finale, but Ten Hag’s team managed to hang on for a potentially crucial win in the battle to qualify for Europe.

Ten Hag praised Amad’s development and growth both on and off the field after the game, expressing his happiness to see the “high potential” winger score his maiden Premier League goal.

“Amad scored a brilliant goal,” Ten Hag remarked during the news conference following the game. “You see how young players are developing, like Amad, and I was really pleased with his performance and it was a great goal.”

Ten Hag responded, “I think every player [is in contention],” when asked if Amad has earned a spot in the starting lineup for Man United’s FA Cup final against Manchester City later this month. A more serious ailment has plagued Amad this season; despite his best efforts, he was forced to wait a considerable amount of time.

“It was encouraging to observe his excellent training results and advancement. He finally had his chance, and he seized it, which is how things ought to proceed.

“Internal rivalry is a constant, and I am quite happy with his current standing. It may serve as a basis for further development and advancement.”

Sofyan Amrabat, who was required to make a few crucial defensive blocks and challenges to maintain Man United’s advantage over Newcastle, has also impressed en Hag.

Ten Hag remarked, “I think he was playing a very good game.” Excellent work, very significant in pressing and counterpressing.

“Keeping the team together, keeping the team compact and good moments to press so we can control the game more.”

The Dutchman, however, was all love for Casemiro, who, after receiving criticism for his recent performances, returned to the center of defense against the Magpies and made many important blocks and clearances.
