With just six weeks remaining on his deal in the Piedmont capital, the 29-year-old Frenchman is expected to depart the team at the end of the campaign on a free transfer. He has been a vital member of the Turin team under Massimiliano Allegri.

Last year, Rabiot was only days away from leaving Juventus before he penned a one-year renewal, worth around €7.5m net per season, leaving him as one of the highest paid players in the squad. Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is desperately working to reduce the wage bill ahead of next season.

In an effort to keep the midfield player while also cutting costs, Juventus is reportedly trying to offer Rabiot a two-year contract that would stretch out his €7.5 million salary. This is detailed on page five of today’s Corriere dello Sport.

His mother-agent Veronique and him have already begun speaking, but the specifics won’t be discussed until after the Coppa Italia final. He said he will decide before the European Championship.
