Manchester United has the greatest chance of signing Jeremie Frimpong, who is willing to depart. Leverkusen Bayer
According to Sport BILD, Manchester United is among the teams most likely to recruit Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong this summer.
Red Devils right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is expected to say goodbye to Old Trafford supporters today, as the team is getting ready for his departure.
In the middle of this, Sport BILD (page 30) reports that Frimpong might be signed as his replacement. In the upcoming weeks, the 23-year-old is “clearly inclined” to depart Leverkusen.
United is reportedly among the teams in the “best position” to sign him. He presently has a €40 million release clause that is valid until the beginning of Euro 2024.
Over the last five years, Wan-Bissaka has been a reliable player for United. His signature slide tackles and one-on-one defense have been quite effective.
The 25-year-old’s style of play, nevertheless, is incompatible with manager Erik ten Hag’s tactical requirements.
The Dutch strategist likes full-backs who, depending on the scenario, can both overlap runs to supply crosses into the box and invert into midfield. Under Ten Hag, Wan-Bissaka hasn’t really contributed much to the game’s last third, which may be one of the main reasons the team is ready to let him go quickly.
Manager Xabi Alonso has called Frimpong “special.” Frimpong would be a fantastic boost. This season, he has mostly played right wing-back, tallying 14 goals and 12 assists.
In the past, the Dutchman has also played as a conventional right-back. Frimpong should therefore be able to switch to a more defensive role while still bringing inventiveness.
