PARIS (AP) – The team that will travel to Metz on Sunday for the season’s last league game does not include Kylian Mbappé.

For a record-breaking 12th time, PSG has already won the title.

The great striker, who is departing PSG after seven seasons with the French league team, is not among the twenty players that coach Luis Enrique has chosen.

When pressed for an explanation, PSG failed to provide one for Mbappé’s absence.

The striker is not on the list of PSG players who are injured and are thus not eligible to play for Real Madrid, as is usually assumed.

Mbappé, with 256 goals—191 in the league—is the club’s all-time leading scorer.

On May 25, he will play his last game for PSG against Lyon in the French Cup final.

With PSG, Mbappé won six league championships. After splitting the 2020 league scoring title with Wissam Ben Yedder of Monaco, he will end as the top scorer for the sixth and fifth times respectively.

After informing PSG in February, Mbappé reaffirmed last week that he will go at the end of the current campaign.

Gianluigi Donnarumma, Vitinha, Marquinhos, Fabian Ruiz, and Ousmane Dembélé will also not go to Metz.
