Midlothian eatery announces surprising closure with a ‘sad heart’, leaving residents distraught over loss of ‘genuine jewel’

Locals shocked as Midlothian cafe announced that Saturday will be its final day.
A widely popular cafe in Midlothian has announced its abrupt closure, leaving loyal customers ‘gutted’.

The Pickers Bothy, which is located at Campend Farm in Dalkeith, has announced that it will close on Saturday, May 11.

Nicky Young wrote, “So sorry to hear this. I have thoroughly enjoyed my visits here. Coffee, scones, breakfast rolls, and meals. The cuisine is of such high quality, and the service is excellent. “You will be missed.”

Wilma Murray wrote, “This is the saddest news ever.” I am extremely sad to hear this. My husband and I enjoyed coming here, and we will miss you terribly. The food, staff, and setting were all fantastic, and we are devastated. We had several visits with you, and I am so sorry to read this post. I wish you and your staff the best.

The announcement comes just one week after another Dalkeith cafe shuttered its doors.

According to the Evening News, the owners of the Sky High Cafe, which is housed within Ryze Edinburgh in Dalkeith

They stated that the entire crew had lost their jobs, but emphasized that the decision was out of their hands.

In a Facebook post, they wrote: “We need to highlight that we are all so upset that the entire team has lost their jobs and we are no longer on the premises.


“We constructed this cafe, established a solid reputation, and gained a large number of regular customers, making our tasks easier. But unfortunately, we were informed last week that our final trade day would be Sunday past (21st April 2024) since we were being evicted and a new company was taking over the area.
