Newcastle United star emails transfer message to agents after Celtic interest, facing rumour mill ‘noises’

Martin Dubravka has written a communication to his agents in which he expresses his desire to leave Newcastle United and join Celtic.

The seasoned goalkeeper is presently competing for Slovakia in Euro 2024, but he is Nick Pope’s club number two. Celtic have apparently named him one of their top transfer targets to replace Joe Hart as number one, with the veteran England international retiring this summer.

A number of goalkeepers have been connected with Brendan Rodgers’ side this summer, but the Newcastle United star has addressed the speculation head on. Speaking ahead of Slovakia’s Euros opener against Belgium on Monday, Dubravka confirmed he was aware of the rumors, admitting his interest and outlining what it would take to consider changing clubs.

He stated, “I am aware of the rumors; teammates question me about them, agents and individuals phone me to see whether they are true. There was some truth to that a year ago, and as you can see, I stayed in Newcastle, so I still believe that if no official offer is on the table, I will not deal.

I informed my agents that I would only consider it if there was concrete evidence and an offer. At the present, it is simply in the stage of making noise.”

He isn’t the only player Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers might sign this summer. Last season’s loanees, attacker Adam Idah and midfielder Paulo Bernardo, are both being considered for permanent contracts.
